VRF air conditioning systems

VRF technology circulates only the minimum amount of refrigerant needed at any one time and enables individual climate control assuming all areas are in the same mode i.e. heating or cooling. Heat pump VRF systems are two pipe systems operating in either heating or cooling, one outdoor unit can have multiple indoor units of varying sizes and types but as with multi split systems they all need to be in one mode either heating or cooling.

The indoor units are generally quieter than a traditional spilt system, as the noise element is with the condenser unit which is located outside of the building. Featuring compact size and a small footprint, the indoor units on this system can operate with a noise rating as low as 23 dB(A). The condenser outdoor units have capacities of up to 140kW for a single outdoor unit, although there are three unit options where a combination is available. This means that up to fifty indoor units can be connected to one outdoor unit.

Heat Recovery

The system is designed to capture heat from the cooling process and reuse it in other areas in the building that may need heating. Individual climate control allows greater flexibility, for example; on room might need cooling and another office heating – this can happen simultaneously with a VRF Heat Recovery System.

A further benefit is that VRF outdoor units can operate up to 4.41 CoP (Co-efficient of Power) to reduce energy consumption, which is previously unseen in non VRF systems.
